Technical Requirements
Purchasing M/Docs II Software is a quick process. In the first step,
the software is downloaded to your computer. The second step is the
installation. In the final step, you make payment to access the groups
of forms you want (Library(s)).
The Download Process
When you click the download link, you will be prompted to save or run the program.
Choose to save the program and choose a save location that you will easily remember,
such as your desktop.
The installation process begins with the download of the software. The time required
to download the software depends on the speed of your Internet connection. An estimate
of the time will appear when you begin the process and will adjust through the download
based on changes in your connection speed. The download size is approximately 500 MB
and will usually complete in a few minutes with a fast Internet connection. With a
slower DSL connection, the time may be as long as 30-45 minutes. Once the download
has completed, you will find an M/Docs II setup program, in your download location
that will take you to the second step, installation.
M/Docs II will run on most new computers. If your computer is more than a few years
old, please review the System Requirements below for optimum performance of the software.
The Installation Process
Double-click on the M/Docs setup icon in your download location to begin the installation
process. Installation proceeds automatically, requiring little interaction from you.
As with the installation of any new software, you will be asked to permit the program
to make changes to your computer and approve the file storage location for your software.
If you do not have the appropriate Microsoft SQL Server Express components installed,
M/Docs II will install that component for you. Please be aware that this will extend
the installation process by several minutes.
The final step is the purchase process where you subscribe to the form library(s)
you want. When you have finished installing the software, you should see a program
shortcut to M/Docs II on your desktop (and in the programs menu). Double-click on
the M/Docs II icon to open the program. You will receive a message that you do not
have any active subscriptions and will be given the opportunity to browse the
available topic areas and forms included in our various libraries and prompted to
purchase a subscription. Additional detailed instructions will be provided on your
screen to walk you through that process.

Supported Operating Systems
All operating systems should have the latest service packs and all security updates applied (see the windows update section below for more information.)
- Windows 8 (Windows 8, Pro or Enterprise)
- Windows 7 Service Pack 1, or later (Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate)
- Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate)
Supported Hardware
- Computer with Intel or compatible 2 GHz or faster processor
- Minimum of 2 GB of RAM (4 GB or more is recommended)
- Minimum of 5 GB of free hard disk space
- Minimum display resolution of 1024x768 with true color
Installed Components
The application requires the following Microsoft components and will install them if they are not already installed.
the computer may need to restart after installing one or more of these components and you will need to restart the setup after the computer restarts:
- Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008
- Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0
- Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5
Additional Requirements

As with most software installations, the user must have administrative rights on the computer to install M/Docs II.
Once the installation is complete, the user permission levels can be reset as needed.

The installation is user specific and must be installed under the account of the intended user.

In the rare occasion when other editions of SQL Server are installed on the machine, they may need to be uninstalled prior to installing the application. This is a requirement of Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008.

Internet connectivity is necessary for standard application installation and activation. Other options are available for installation and activation by contacting our support desk.
Windows Updates
To ensure your installation process runs smoothly, we strongly recommend you Check to see that your Windows operating system has the latest updates from Microsoft. To verify this,
- Click the Windows start button.
- Click All Programs.
- Locate Windows Update from the programs list and click it.
- Follow all instructions that appear on your screen to check for and install windows updates.
NOTE: You may need to repeat this process several times until you receive
a message telling you that there are no new updates available, since updates will
generally install in sequence and require older updates be in place before newer
ones will download.
