General Description and Landmarks: The Flour Exchange Building is located
in downtown Minneapolis. It is a twelve-story, tan-colored brick building on the
southwest corner of the intersection of 3rd Street South (one-way east to west)
and 4th Avenue South (one-way north to south). The Flour Exchange Building is one
block south of Washington Avenue; right next to and along the east side of the U.S.
Federal Courthouse; directly north of and across the street (4th Street South) from
Minneapolis City Hall; two blocks directly north of the Hennepin County Government
Center; and directly west of and across the street (4th Avenue South) from the Grain
Exchange Building.
Parking: There are parking lots and ramps and metered parking in the immediate
vicinity of the Flour Exchange Building. Most visitors to our office find metered
parking very close to the Flour Exchange Building. Gateway Ramp is a parking ramp
that is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of 3rd Street South
and Fourth Avenue South. One-half hour parking is available in Gateway Ramp for
$1.75.
Driving Directions
From the West (via I-394): Take interstate highway 394 east. Then take exit
9C to merge onto Washington Avenue. Turn right at 4th Avenue South. The next street
you will come to is 3rd Street South. The Flour Exchange Building is on the southwest
corner as you move through the intersection of 4th Avenue South and 3rd Street South.
From the East (via I-94): Take interstate highway 94 west. Then take exit
234B (the 5th Street exit) and follow 5th Street toward downtown. As you are approaching
the Metrodome Stadium, turn right at 11th Avenue South. Continue on 11th Avenue
for a few blocks and turn left at Washington Avenue. Proceed several blocks and
turn left at 4th Avenue South. The next street you will come to is 3rd Street South.
The Flour Exchange Building is on the southwest corner as you move through the intersection
of 4th Avenue South and 3rd Street South.
From the North (via Central Avenue): Take Central Avenue (becomes 3rd Avenue
South as you cross the Mississippi River) southbound to the intersection of 3rd
Avenue South and Washington Avenue. Turn left at Washington Avenue. Proceed one
block and turn right at 4th Avenue South. The next street you will come to is 3rd
Street South. The Flour Exchange Building is on the southwest corner as you move
through the intersection of 4th Avenue South and 3rd Street South.
From the North (via I-94): Take interstate highway 94 east. Then take exit
230 (the 4th Street exit), and follow 4th Street to 2nd Avenue North. Turn left
at 2nd Avenue and go two blocks to Washington Avenue. Turn right at Washington Avenue.
Proceed about six blocks and turn right at 4th Avenue South. The next street you
will come to is 3rd Street South. The Flour Exchange Building is on the southwest
corner as you move through the intersection of 4th Avenue South and 3rd Street South.
From the Northeast Suburbs (via I-35W): Take interstate highway 35W south
to the Washington Avenue exit (17B). Turn right at Washington Avenue. Proceed several
blocks on Washington Avenue and turn left at 4th Avenue South. The next street you
come to is 3rd Street South. The Flour Exchange Building is on the southwest corner
as you move through the intersection of 4th Avenue South and 3rd Street South.
From the South (via I-35W): Take interstate highway 35W north. As you approach
downtown Minneapolis (via the lanes labeled "Downtown Exits" on the freeway signs),
stay in one of the left lanes for convenience. Take the 5th Avenue South exit -
actually, you will simply continue in a straight line from the freeway exit onto
5th Avenue, which is a one-way street running from south to north. Continue going
north on 5th Avenue several blocks to 3rd Street South. Turn left at 3rd Street
South. The next street you will come to is 4th Avenue South. The Flour Exchange
Building is on the southwest corner as you move through the intersection of 3rd
Street South and 4th Avenue South.
